Yoga for stomach relief !💪

Hi guys! 😊 Long time, no see.

I was very busy, but I would still like to share more useful tips with you which helped me a lot. But, firstly I would like to explain why is the name of the page changed: After a lot of thinking I discovered that I wouldn't like to focus mostly on cooking (though it is the one of the most important parts of the symptom relief), so I would more like  ''lifestyle-ly'' to help you with everyday symptoms. So let's start with some yoga.

Yoga as a remedy?

Honestly, I was kinda skeptical about yoga as a remedy for our symptoms. I was of course met with the yoga as one of the best stress free tools for the health whole body, but I didn't know that it could help that much with stomach symptoms. I also knew that it was good for digestion, but still I thought that it could only partially help us by making us feel healthier and better, and not by making our symptoms less troubled. Luckily, I was curious enough to discover the benefits of yoga for stomach. Here is how it all has started.

Morning yoga for beginners

Since I was a beginner, I started searching for easy yoga for all of us who are new with this fruitful technique. I found this quick morning yoga on Drebee web page:

I thought it was excellent for all of us who are at very beginning, but also for us who are having a busy work schedule since it approximately takes 5 minutes of our day.

RESULTS

Of course, the first feeling I had in my muscles, since after doing those exercises they started feeling more flexible and relaxed. However, since the spine is really connected with the position of the stomach, it also had a little beneficial effects on my hernia. I felt it a little bit more relaxed and at ease. Those exercises couldn't do much, but they made me feel healthier and surprisingly, as I said,  they put my hernia a little bit at ease. I was very motivated to search for more exercises thinking it could only be more beneficial.

Favorite yoga position ! - Dhanurasana

After searching with some help of other dear people I discovered a three step trick for adjusting the hernia. In total, the whole package of three steps didn't make much sense to me since I have done most of these things before (I would be writing also about it), but the best part was a reference to this specific yoga bow-position AKA Dhanurasana.

The trick for this position is to lie on stomach, and than grab your feet and stay in this position as much as you can paying attention to your breathing.

I was fascinated by the effects from this pose! 😮 Honestly like WOW-ed!  I was doing it at least twice a day, and I managed to lower my hernia. When you start doing it you can feel like all your inside organs stretching and adjusting, I guess it is really beneficial since it helps us in harmless way making our bodies come to their natural state.

RESULTS

So there are few results on this one:
  • Feeling more energy and strength in the whole body
  • Lowering hernia slowly but efficiently (meaning that you really have to be determined to do this 2-3 times a day)
  • Good for spine (both for us who are sitting too much on a job, faculty, school... or working heavy work that kills our spine and posture)
  • Stress free treatment
  • Muscles in the body are more relaxed than usual
  • Good for digestion also and other organs
  • Better sleep
Furthermore, I had a habit to do the previously mentioned morning yoga plus this pose in the morning, and before bedtime to do this pose few times which is also beneficial for insomnia. In few weeks I was feeling a lot better.

Be the hero with Hero pose - Virasana

When I was firstly researching for yoga and its benefits on my digestive system, I was working in a an agency. There I asked a colleague who was doing yoga very frequently to consult her instructor for the best yoga pose for stomach bloating and gasses. She recommended me virasana, and preferably to do it after every meal since it is the best pose for digestion, meaning that this pose is supposed to be the most natural position for digesting food. I don't know much about that, but I did try the pose and in some way it helped me.

RESULTS

Firstly, it was honestly really hard for me to do this pose. I know it looks easy, but for mine spine and legs it was really hard. Preferably, you should sit like this about half an hour. For me it was a maximum of 15 minutes, I think. However, it reduced that my bloating (even if I did it just 10-15 min) and helped me with hernia. For me it wasn't beneficial as the Dhanurasana but still it was very useful.

To conclude...

Yoga in general is really beneficial for us who are suffering from stomach problems. There are many ways how yoga can help us:
  • Reducing stress as the main factor of stomach problems
  • Strengthening spine and posture which is important for the better position of inside organs (including stomach)
  • Easing hernia
  • Strengthening whole body and making us feel stronger and better in general
  • Beneficial for immune system and health
I would advise you to make your yoga routine or to consult with yoga instructor to have the best session based on your specific problems. Of course, practice that frequently and monitor the results to see which position suits you the best, so you could practice it the most. Nevertheless, watch out for certain positions that can make hernia bigger and more ''up'' - positioned. Some positions are good for those of you who don't have hernia, since they are beneficial for other organs, such as: the ones where you bend legs above head, or something similar to crunches. However, they can lift the stomach up, putting more pressure.
